I grew up listening to stories of Shivaji maharaj as a child. One thing which always stayed with me in those stories was the fact that Shivaji maharaj were always a part of the story in lead, whether slaying of Afzal Khan, or the gureilla attack on Pune, Surat or the escape from Agra.
