Kolaveri - to be in a soup or make something magical

Why this Kolaveri? (Kolaveri means savage fury/barbaric rage)

By now you have no clue as to what I am talking about or your mind is humming a silly tune.

The song is irritating yet you tend to latch on to it.

One way to look at this song is to regard this as a silly song but then again their is a Ninad way.

A) The song is lesson to all of us that almost anything can work in a viral. It has no grammer.

B) But ask yourself this - is this song promoting a movie, or Danish or is a cover song or nothing at all.

I assume that this is to promote the movie. My guess is not all but it will increase the footfall for the movie.

So this viral was an excellent idea.

But whats to grab from here - Any insight.

So here are insights from Kolaveri

1. They (viral makers) knew they were playing  on the perceptions of the non tamil english speaking rest of the country and thats why you have exaggerated nasal tones, lyrics and pronunciations.

2.To have fun at work. No matter how silly it seems.

3. Believe in yourself.  - The resources used in this viral are low but the belief and conviction shown in making this viral must have in great.

4. Downplay and make fun of yourself and yet be in control of the situation.

Hey these things can be used in our daily lives/work.

1. Create Tg oriented content.

2. Have fun/ healthy interactions at work.

3. Each day try to be the best person you can be. Use your brain, create and take help if needed. The resources you require to do well will follow.

4. Let others feel comfortable in approaching you and discussing you. You need to be charming but yet you need to be the one who can deliver and lead to positive solutions.

Right under ones nose. - Mama Kane.

Mumbai Watch.

Today I ate in Mama Kane. Its an old restaurant in Dadar, its 101 years old and yet I did not know that this place existed.  Turned out to be a good place and is very conveniently located from the Dadar station.

But this blogpost is  not about food or Mama Kane. It is about how we tend to live our lives in our own little zones never realizing the landscape around us.  Even the known has some element which can be learnt, explored and worked upon.

Somethings can just be overlooked especially with the known. It requires outer perspective to find out the blindspot.
This is perhaps the reason why consultancy as a profession works.

Most businessmen/women are good at their businesses. That is why they are businessmen/women in the first place. What the consultants bring on to the table are instances- like telling you that Mama Kane exists and then showing it to you and then suggesting you the course of action.

This got be into thinking of possible ways of getting better at our business/ work and finding /searching for new Mama Kane.

I would be attempting to find a few blindspots in the next few days to help one improve their work. If you have any suggestions/topics you feel I can cover feel free to contact me on the comment section or email me on ninadtatke@gmail.com with a subject : Mama Kane.

Hope to create a series of topics for mutual growth!

I hope we create something radical.

ps. Thank you Vinayak and Harish for Mama Kane.

Koleshwar's secret.

The sahayadri adventure- Koleshwars secret a book by Deepak Dayal.

**** out of 5.

a book review by Ninad Tatke.

Imagine a story full of intrigue, mix it with solid historic facts, add some logical myths. Voila you got yourself all the ingredients to a mystery/thriller novel.

What makes Koleshwar a good read is the fact that the story although a fantasy does not go overboard with to many wow/edge of the seat moments thrown in to make it exciting. What is does have is a narrative which builds up the curiosity and sustains it through out.

I wont reveal the plot.

Yes the writing can be more tight in certain areas and the end is sort of too much of a filmy and totally not worth what the rest of the book brings to the table.

The story of the book is about a bizzare dream a boy has in his coma and the events which unfold later. It travels (or makes us travel) through 1850s and 2000s and paints glorious descriptions of geographical locations of both the eras.

I would rate this book a good read and would recommend it for sure. Priced at 195 this book published by Tarini publishing is worth a casual read.

delhi watch - the 100 year old city

As NDRS approached my mind went back to nostalgia. The trek trip, the aluparathas the Lassi the monuments. i was in delhi before. But that was long time ago. Now i was in delhi, and i saw it all over again and yet experenced it first time.  Yes the autos were still over charging and people are still... delhites but this time i saw delhi as a city of people i know.                                                                                            Its amazing how a box of bricks turns into home if you have love in a family, similarly Delhi made me feel at easy as i met some people i cherish. i cant express my joy to meet them again.                                 i travelled  to chattarapur, to noida, to cp and crp /gk 2.  saw a few places. searched like crazY, explored, felt the fog, Saw elite common divide.  i Liked the metro and cant wait for it to start in mumbai. as i parted delhi, i can safely say that this trip was a good trip.

To clean the table.

There are men which are well known and then there are a few how are remembered. being none of these two those has its advantages.

The most important aspect of life is to live happily and that is only possible with a healthy mind.

So in a way one has to clear ones mind.

I call this clearing the table.

1. Mind collects memories and stores them on its table for future use. While memory and experience are good a good clean unbiased thought which is limit less and un obstructed can lead to wonders for any body.

2. To clean ones mind one has to let go of the negativity and say/ believe that one stands for this and will achieve the targets one sets for itself.

The clean table gives a lot of space to do constructive things and hence it should be achieved periodically.

Truck Tales - part 2 -

Sunday - 14
Rohan reached Nanded at Dawn at 4.00 am.  Nanded is right next to the banks of river Godavari. The early morning chill in the air was cutting like little pins on his skin. He had taken the bus which travelled to Nanded. It reached Hadgoan at 1.30 am and the Nanded station at 3.50. The Nanded station looks like a Gurudwara.

As he got down the bus stand he felt the sudden hunger which was hurting his stomach. He looked around and found a tea stall. A cutting chai had never tasted so good before.

He decided to check up with the taxi service provider at 5.00 am even though he knew that the time was too early. But he got his next set of directions.

Seema was in Degloor a place very close to Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

He tried to find some transport. He found none. Tried hiring a taxi but it was too early and he wanted to reach early as he wanted to also be back in Mumbai on Monday.

Thus he took a lift. A lift from a truck. Rohan found to his dismay that getting in this truck was hard. The door was too high and it took him some effort getting in.  The road from Nanded to Degloor was as smooth as moons surface. In fact there were so many potholes that the truck was flying at top speed and as it was going so fast, the truck was barely touching the ground.

The fields on view had black soil which is very fertile and grows cotton, soyabean and turi excellently.

At 8 am he had reached Degloor. The people as he found out could speak Marathi, Kannada and Telagu in the same sentence and breath. As he asked around, finally he where Seema was.

At 10 am he met Seema near the main centre. She was suprised to see him, she liked it - the gesture but she also found it stupid.

As they chatted, fought and pranked around 2 hours went by in no time.

Seema still had work to do and so Rohan joined her as she went about photo doumenting small villages, their agricultural crops and their lives over all. At around 4, when Rohan said he wanted to go back to Mumbai. But Seema would have none of it. She appreciated the adventure Rohan had gone through and she wanted to savior it, and Rohan going back was not a part of it.

" Go back on Tuesday. Call in sick tommorow".

And thus Rohan and Seema were together at last. They spent there time together as they were closer now than they were ever before.

There was still one more trip to happen, and this trip was to Hadgoan which Rohan and Seema did together to cover the bazaar day at Niwgabazar on Monday the 15th.

As Rohan slept on his journey back on Monday night in his train berth, his dreams carried visuals of Green fields from Wardha and the Black fertile soils of Nanded.

His life as he knew it would never be the same again.

Truck Tales - part 1

Ferry / Fairytale part 1
Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life....Love gives us a fairytale...!!

11 am – Saturday 13

As he walked around the main market road – Army Road, in Wardha . He called up Aarti and asked her to casual ask Seema when she can about her whereabouts.

Wardha is a town built largely by Bajaj family. There is a statue of Bajaj in the centre of the town which is next to a river.

Half an hour later he got his first bad news. Seema had lost her phone and now was not reachable. Rohan realized now, that tracing Seema would not be as easy as he imagined.

Some how he found out that Seema was in Kapsi.

4 pm – Friday 12

It was a normal office day in the cubicle of Janak Industries. Rohan had just spent his 6 minutes of break chatting around near the water cooler. His life was okay, he had a job in Mumbai which meant that his bills were paid on time, a girl friend - Seema he met mostly and perhaps only on weekends and a family back in Baroda.

Seema considered Rohan as a good guy but he felt that they could have something more. She felt Rohan did lack something in him. Seema was an adrenaline junky and she worked for an MNC as a free lance photographer.

Seema used to call Rohan the most predictable person on the face of the earth.

For Rohan everything was planned, strategized and had back ups. Seema usually just went with the flow.

He knew that Seema was going in the interiors of Maharashtra for some work this weekend.

24 hours later he was in the interiors of Maharashtra with no idea where Seema was.

4 pm – Saturday 13

After asking for directions in Kapsi in Wardha Maharashtra and hitching a ride in local seat sharing rickshaw, Rohan reached Waigoan also in Wardha and he decided to enquire about Seema to local people in the shops, the bus stand, the richshaw walas, and after talking with around 10 to 15 people, he was told by one person that he had seen a lady and a driver in a taxi at Patri.

Rohan decided to hire a rickshaw but no wanted to go to Patri right now. He offered money, but no one was bulging. Instinctively Rohan waved a truck going towards Patri and started his journey towards patri. On a normal day this activity of hitch hiking on a truck itself would have been his Facebook message but today was not a normal day.

The fields of Wardha were very beautiful as the green crops moved about in gracious wind in the golden sunlight. It was a great view, but Rohan had his mind elsewhere.

Friday 5 pm. 12

As Rohan was unsure what to buy for Seema on her Birthday, he called up a common friend Aarti. Aarti suggested a few things but said that what she (Seema) would love the most is to spend some quality time with you. Rohan thought let me find her and meet her in her project right now. That shall be a great surprise for her. He did ask her where she was ofcourse over the phone. But he did not know that finding her would lead to him finding himself.

Thus Rohan started on to the journey which started on a train in Dadar, and began in Wardha.

7 pm Saturday 13

As he asked the local shops and the main centre in Patri, Rohan knew now that Seema was in a taxi which had a Kolhapur number. He immediately used net to call up taxi services in Kolhapur and 20 minutes later he knew the taxi service provider who had rented out a taxi to go to Wardha and then to Degloor in Nanded. Now he knew that he had to reach Nanded tomorrow to meet her and to surprise her. He saved the taxi operators number and started towards Nanded.
